Sometimes school can seem like four walls closing in.  But if we’re lucky, we get a teacher who points to the sky and says “jump”!  Rick and I had one or two exceptional teachers who helped us see a world bigger than the one directly in front of us.  This song’s for them.

      Mr. Scott - Amo/Fathers

Mr. Scott has a garden, the best on the street, puts all the others to shame.

Mr. Scott has a style uniquely his own, always cool on a summer’s day.

Mr. Scott teaches music in the public school, trumpet, flute and oboe.

Lives in the house across the street from me, all alone with his piano.

Oh, Mr. Scott, Amadeus all through the evening and knowing what you are reminds us of what we can be, reminds us of what we can be.

At my school, we follow the usual rules: the jocks beat up the stoners.

But when we take the stage with Mr. Scott, it’s the music alone that owns us.

Oh, Mr. Scott, Amadeus all through the evening and knowing what you are reminds us of what we can be, reminds us…

Now people say things about Mr. Scott, exactly what you’d expect.

But when his door closes, all I can hear is the magic when the notes connect.

Mr. Scott has a garden, the best on the street, puts all the others to shame.

Mr. Scott has a style uniquely his own, always cool on a summer’s day.

Oh, Mr. Scott, Amadeus all through the evening and knowing what you are reminds us of what we can be, reminds us of what we can be.

(Jim MacDonald: keyboards, Ron Fathers: bass, additional vocals, Ron Heigelsberger: drums, additional vocals, mixed and mastered by Doug Blais)
