Rick and I did this as background music for a scene in a TV movie I wrote called “Befriend and Betray”.  Great fun to dream up a song as if it was recorded back in the rockabilly heyday of Gene Vincent and Duane Eddy – and before global warming.  I wonder what kind of songs driver-less, electric cars will inspire.  Cue the explosion of Gary Numan cover bands …

Baby Loves To Drive - Amo/Fathers

Met a girl at my high school dance. She looked so sweet I decided to take a chance.

Oh, she won’t talk and she won’t dance. Got no time for no romance.

She don’t kiss but my baby loves to drive.

She asked me if I got myself some wheels. She takes my keys and she makes my tires squeal.

Tells me “Baby, hold on tight, because I intend to drive all night.”

She don’t kiss but my baby loves to drive.

Drive, drive, drive.  She’s the fastest woman alive.

Drive, drive, drive.   I just watch the world fly by, by, by …

By nine o’clock that car is out of gas so we pull off to have a little rest.

She combs her hair and I fill my tank. Five dollars later we’re on our way.

She don’t kiss but my baby loves to drive.

Drive, drive, drive.  She’s the fastest woman alive.

Drive, drive, drive.   I just watch the world fly by, by, by …

My little baby, she never passed a test.  Her mom and dad won’t let her out past ten.

She can’t drink and she can’t dance.  Has to sneak out through the fence.

She don’t kiss but my baby loves to drive.

My little darling, she don’t pay for gas.  She just smiles and the miles, they fly right past.

I strap right in and I hold on tight because that little girl, she goes all night.

She don’t kiss but my baby loves to drive.

    • Sorry about that Gayle, but we do appreciate the comment that you did manage to leave. It’s nice to know that someone out there heard the songs.
