We Were the Future

SONG OF THE MONTH/JUNE 2016

Rick and I have written a lot of “winter” songs. That’s what happens when you grow up in Canada. We also watch a lot of movies (long winter nights…) and are big fans of director David Lean.

City feels so light tonight
City feels tonight that it just might
lead us to a place where
we can be ourselves, no fear.

Instead of in the skin of someone else.

Shadows of ourselves
Standing in the skin of someone else.

Soon you’ll be at home again
I’ll remain your loyal shadow man
Watching from the street where
I can see your light there.

Pressing on the skin of someone else.

Shadows of ourselves
Standing in the skin of someone else.

So let’s keep walking.
Cause it’s just the winter talking.

Funny how these things all work out
Never meant to cause you so much doubt
But something in your touch, you,
Brings me back to life, it’s true.

Living through the skin of someone else.

Shadows of ourselves
Standing in the skin of someone else.

And it feels so small
Not me at all
So let’s keep walking
Cause it’s just the winter talking,
It’s just the winter talking…
